During my time at HDK, we had one semester dedicated to internships, I managed to get mine at SF Studios, working as a assistant director for a children's show called Dino Deluxe. Available for streaming on C-MORE. After my internship was over I was contracted to finish up the final few backgrounds to keep the show consistent.
As assistant director my main task was to compose the backgrounds for the show, using Sarah Sheppards illustrations as assets. Bringing her popular books into life through animation, I had a lot of freedom in creating the backgrounds since the animation format is quite different format from the book format. I also dabbled a bit in the animation and made all of the characters ready for animation, by separating jaws, limbs, and tails from the bodies; but also filling in missing pieces, such as creating eyelids, the inside of mouths etc. .
